This was such a pleasure to work on mostly because it was my first foray back into photomanipulation in quite some time. Morgan wanted this book to have a similar feel (and quite possibly the same model) as her previous short story collection, A Sweet, Little Dream. We were discussing what she would like to see on this one. She mentioned she wanted something that felt almost whimsical and nostalgic. Something that would draw a reader in and make them think of hope.
I’m not 100% sure I nailed the tone (that’s up to the readers) but I did make Morgan really happy when she saw the final product. I think this cover consists of at least 4 different images that I put together (not counting any textures, effects, or brushes I might have used) and really let me stretch my photomanipulation skills.
Overall, I’m really happy with the outcome and even more grateful to Morgan for trusting me to use my own creative freedoms to create her cover.
